Dishing the Dirt: Search These Words
assemblage, 24" x 48"
Written in wooden letters on dishes of dirt, are eight examples of threats to the environment.
Viewers are invited to “dish the dirt” about these topics—to talk about, and to research,
some of the factors that put our planet, and ourselves, in danger. Our own survival is linked
to the health of the land, our crops, our fresh water, the oceans, the air we breathe.
This assemblage is a visual pun on the idiom “dishing the dirt,” but the dirt in this piece is
also a material that references Earth.
